The UNI 11716 standard defines the requirements of knowledge, skills, and competence related to the professional activity of the installer of external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS), also known as “cappotto” systems. The objective of the standard is to ensure operational efficiency and guarantee the effective installation of thermal insulation systems.
The standard identifies two professional levels based on the tasks performed by the professional:
Why obtain UNI 11716 certification
In an extremely competitive market such as external thermal insulation, certified skills undoubtedly represent a guarantee of quality.
Certification according to UNI 11716 is, for example, essential for managing and participating in new public tenders. For both the client and the contractor, working with a certified installer represents an additional assurance of performance efficiency, allowing installation activities to be optimized and reducing the occurrence of disputes.
Target audience
The UNI 11716 standard applies to all service companies and industry operators who have invested in achieving high levels of knowledge, skills, and competence and who intend to demonstrate them in the market. It also aims to provide guarantees to all organizations that rely on personnel for the effective installation of external insulation systems.
Benefits
Certification process
The certification exam is conducted in the presence of an examination committee with no conflicts of interest with the candidates and consists of the following:
It is possible to proceed to the next test only after passing the previous one. The exam is passed with a score of 60% in all tests.
The certification is issued following the verification of the correctness of all examination documents by an approver who checks the accuracy and completeness of the process and its contents. The certification process ends with the issuance of the Certificate (upon authorization, the candidate’s name will be included in the Registers of the Certification Body and of the accreditation body ACCREDIA).
A candidate wishing to be certified as Team Leader must already hold the Basic certification. It is possible to request both levels during the same exam session, provided the prerequisites are met; if the conditions are satisfied, the candidate must take the full Basic exam and, if passed, will proceed to an additional exam related to the Team Leader tasks. The validity of the certification is subject to annual maintenance during which the Certification Body verifies the professional’s ongoing work activity.
At the end of the validity period, the certified professional may choose to renew their certification through the same maintenance methods plus evidence of participation in training courses.
