ISO 42001:2023 - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of sector or size, that develops or uses artificial intelligence systems, even if only as support for its operational or decision-making processes.

ISO 42001 follows the High-Level Structure (HLS) common to modern ISO management systems, allowing integration with existing management systems.

What are the main objectives?

  • Responsible management of artificial intelligence: it promotes the conscious and responsible use of AI technologies, reducing the risk of improper or uncontrolled use.
  • Reduction of technological and ethical risks: it enables the identification and mitigation of risks that artificial intelligence may generate through improper use, improving system safety and reliability.
  • Support for regulatory compliance: it represents a useful tool to support compliance with emerging artificial intelligence regulations, such as the AI Act, as well as personal data protection regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What are the benefits?

  • Greater control over AI systems
  • Clear definition of responsibilities
  • Increased staff awareness
  • Improved quality of the data used
